NECK & SHOULDER PAIN
…………………………………………………………………….

” I started coming to Dynamic Health and Pain Management after I was in an aout wreck in 2009 on recommendation from a co-worker, Don G.  I was not sure of what to expect, but thought I would give it a try to help with some back painI was having. After the first visit I was hooked.  I was amazed at how much relief I felt from the different therapies I did that day.  Then in June 2011, after pushing a riding lawn mower (big mistake) my neck and shoulder started hurting again.  Again I thought, waht gool will Dynamic Health be for me.  And again, after the first visit there was a great deal of relief.  Plus I got tips on sleeping (without a pillow) and using the neck brace and protable therastim pads.  Thanks to Dr. Matz and all the staff at Dynamic Health and Pain Management.”

Cathy R.

“In September 2000 I began to experience a nagging pain in my right shoulder…One day I could barely lift a frying pan…After my first treatment I was amazed how much better my shoulder started to feel. On my second visit, I noticed the tension in my neck started to loosen up and my shoulder was feeling even better…My shoulder is back at full range and I feel better and better everyday. Dr. Cox and his staff are heaven sent, the level of professionalism is outstanding and my treatments are wonderful.”

Cherie L.

“My career has always involved extensive work on a computer. I was under care for my neck and back when my hands started to bother me, especially my right hand (the one that runs the mouse). My hands were getting numb, and it hurt to grip anything small, or to open a jar. I went to see Dr. Cox and asked him – ‘one hand is warm and the other is cold, what’s wrong with me?’ He immediately touched a muscle in my right arm and it was as solid as a rock. After two quick ultrasound treatments on that muscle my hands were back to normal.”

KNEE PAIN
…………………………………………………………………….

“I think it’s been two years that I had pain in my knees, they would stiffen up when I sat for a short period of time and my legs and feet would cramp up sometime while walking or standing and especially at night when sleeping. I could not take long walks or walk too long in the malls and even had trouble going up stairs…I went to different doctors and even a neurologist and they put me on medication that I could take only for a while and then the pain would start all over again. I went for my check-up and spoke to Dr. Cox (I said to myself – finally a doctor who listens…) and I wasn’t rushed through my appointment…On my second visit Dr. Cox started treatment. That night I was able to sleep straight through the night with no cramping. My third visit I felt even better. On my job we had a fire drill and…we had to walk back up the stairs. I walked up three flights of stairs with no problem (no pain – smile). That weekend…we went to Carowinds Amusement Park. I walked around from 11am to 5pm…my legs did not have any pain and that night I slept like a baby through the night (smile…smile). I am so grateful for Dr. Cox and his staff…their patience and especially their caring and concern for their patients.”

Linda G.

“For the last four years I’ve had pain in my knees. My doctor just can’t figure out what the problem is. I also developed pain in my shoulder. All the doctor could do was to prescribe an anti-inflammatory. I figured that this was all the pounding my joints took from the years in gymnastics. I’m 22 years old, I shouldn’t feel 50. I’ve developed lower back pain in the past two years. I thought it was because I was not in top shape and just had a baby. Now holding her is painful. She is a baby and needs to be held so I just bare the pain. I’ve seen Dr. Cox six times in the last two weeks and I already feel a difference. I know I have a ways to go ‘til it’s all better but I’m very happy with what has changed. I very rarely have knee pain and my lower back and shoulder are feeling better. I can now hold my daughter for a longer period of time instead of just five minutes. Dr. Cox has gained my total trust!!”

BACK PAIN
…………………………………………………………………….

“The pain in my mid-and low-back, hips, and legs began about five years ago. For the past two years, it was my constant companion. In that period of time, I saw three physicians, underwent a number of diagnostic tests, and tried numerous medications for pain control and for sleep at night in order to have the energy to continue with my daily activities…My pain was always there, whether I was lying down, standing, or sitting. Unable to sleep through the night, I had to get out of bed to walk around my room in order to ease the discomfort in my back and legs. Dr. Cox is a warm and caring professional whose understanding, compassionate listening, and concern for his patients are truly remarkable. Competent in his field, he conveys his knowledge to his staff and patients in a way that is respectful and reassuring. One finds hope and healing in this setting. Patients are confident that every avenue will be pursued in finding the source of their problem and relief for their discomfort. Although slow at first, my body began to feel different as the treatments progressed. I began to sleep more comfortably through the night and to experience a diminishment of the pain. Most exciting has been my ability to resume some of my former activities and to be more physically active without suffering the terrible disabling pain and discomfort. It is a blessing to know that I am able to once again enjoy good health. It is a blessing to have, in Charlotte, NC, the exceptional care of Dr. Peter Cox and his wonderful staff. I owe them my sincere gratitude for “being there” for me and for the care, assistance, confidence, and hope they have provided to me and to others who long to be healthy once more. My prayerful thanks to each of you! May our gracious God bestow on you and your loved ones an abundance of His love, tender care, and mercy as you continue with your fine work!”

Therese G.

“It seemed my constant use of the computer mouse was weakening my hand and making it very difficult to unscrew jar lids or hold things (like a paperback novel…). Regular  treatments have almost removed all pain in my hand and I rarely ever remember this former problem when I got to open jar lids, etc…”

Emily B.

“For nearly a year, I’ve suffered off and on with pain in my lower back. Initially, I attributed this pain to the manner in which I slept or to improper lifting at the workplace. When I first started to experience lower back pain, it was slight and not persistent; however, as time passed, the intensity of the pain increased dramatically. Recently there have been times when walking and sitting for any length of time was quite unbearable. [One morning] I attempted to get out of bed to get dressed for work and couldn’t move. Later that afternoon, I went for the treatment. I was very impressed with my consultation with Dr. Cox. He could see that I was in severe pain and took immediate procedures to offer some relief…I could tell he was genuinely concerned about the pain I was experiencing and wanted to help. I went to the center in intense pain – barely able to walk, but by the time I left, I was able to stand up straight and walk correctly. I’ve continued with the treatments daily and I’m progressing extremely well…I feel very good about the decision I made to pursue  treatments and I would highly recommend this facility and its staff to others.”

Keith B.

“I am a third grade teacher and I had to teach my class from a sitting position. I had low back pain, shoulder pain and numbness in my left arm. I could not stand up straight and had to think about each step. I even got to the point of having to park at the back door of the school instead of parking in the parking lot. My classroom children had to wait at the end of the hall for me to catch up. My son, who is nine, was doing the things I couldn’t, like getting the groceries out of the car, taking the hamper down to the laundry, bending to pick up items on the floor and I gave up dancing and going out. This had been constant for three years. I had already tried pills to help, and other doctors, and I just couldn’t get any relief…I walked into his office, bent over and hurting and went through the initial consultation and told Dr. Cox I wanted to be active again. I had x-rays done and thought what Dr. Cox had said made sense and I began treatment shortly after. I began to see some changes in just a few visits. I am currently on visit #45, after seven months, and being able to increasingly spread out my treatment, I have seen some significant changes…I am active again, I can dance, move and stand in my classroom and teach! Dr. Cox has restored my faith in doctors. He was the first doctor to listen to me and to hear the things I was saying and was able to tell me that what I was experiencing wasn’t something I had to live with or just my imagination.

Anise G.

“I was in a car accident on October 11th 2001, which resulted in injuries to my lower back. A few days after the accident the pain in my back was getting worse…When I arrived for my appointment it was to find a very relaxed atmosphere, and a staff who are the sweetest people you could ever meet. Dr. Cox had x-rays taken of my back to which he found damage. He told me I most likely had 2 herniated discs that were bulging, L4, L5 – spondylolesthesis and spina bifida occulta with significant stenosis at L5 with 2 moderate discs L4, L5 and an extra lumbar vertebrae at L6. When Dr. Cox explained all this to me, of course I was very scared; however, Dr. Cox assured me not to worry, that he would do everything in his power to help me, and Dr. Cox started his research right away. He sent my x-rays off to Mid-West Radiology to get a second opinion on what he found, and of course, Dr. Cox was correct. Dr. Cox did everything in his power to help me, but he knew deep down that I was going to need surgery. I believe with all my heart that Dr. Cox took me under his wing to save me, and make me well again, no matter what it took. Now, most doctors would just refer you to someone else or release you to let you fend for yourself. But not Dr. Cox. He first scheduled me for an MRI, after that he was calling several surgeons to tell them about my condition. We went through 3-4 surgeons who were afraid to even touch me, in fear they would paralyze me with surgery. But again, Dr. Cox did not stop there. Dr. Cox found me an excellent surgeon who was willing to do the operation. My surgery was successful, other than tingling in my left foot!! The medication the surgeon put me on was not helping my foot, so I stopped taking it, went back to Dr. Cox for a few treatments on my foot, and now of course my foot is almost back to normal. I truly believe Dr. Cox went above and beyond, because he cares about all of his patients…I would advice anyone to go see Dr. Cox, as he is a very special and caring man, and his staff is just wonderful. I will never forget what Dr. Cox has done for me.”

Kimberly H.

“After deployment to Haiti (slept on mat and cot) I had enough lower back pain to seek help. Wow, it seems I had more problems than just lower back pain! With time, education and care my lower back, left hip and neck was treated very well. Fast forward, lost 20 pounds as I am back to working out and keepingffit. I am grateful for the outstanding service always delivered by staff. Most important, was the valuable education I recieved about my aging body.”

Rob B.

“I injured my lower back about 3 years ago and as a result I have a herniated disk.  My family doctor scheduled me to see a surgeon. My option was to take over the counter medications and rest. As time progressed, my back pain and numbness in my foot got worse and I began to have trouble sleeping. About 4 months ago I could hardley walk and had an appointment to see a surgeon. My wife was wathcing TV and saw a program on Dynamic Health and Pain Management. She said why don’t you call them. I was hesitant, but after some research, I called. The staff was very caring and you were not treated like a number. After my initial visit I began the treatment plan. I have very little pain and numbness after the course of treatments. Thanks to the Doctor and staff, surgery is not an option.”

Eddie W.

“I’ve had many injuries and back problems since 1995. One of my injuries led to sciatic pain and eventual back surgery. I had my L5 [vertebrae] fused and went on with my life. I was fine for about a year and a half. I started massage therapy school and went through two months when I began to get sciatic symptoms again. Within one week I was in so much pain I could not sleep. My massage therapist worked all muscles that could have entrapped the nerve. My problem was not muscular so he sent me to Dr. Cox. After taking x-rays, Dr. Cox discovered that I have a loss of curve in the lumbar and cervical regions [of my back]. Through treatment I am now able to perform my massage routines with little to no pain. I am impressed with the treatments and would love to work in this area someday.”

Janelle J.

“I was involved in an on the job accident in 2007. I was hospitalized 2 days after due to loss of use in my right leg. I was diagnosed with 2 herniated disks. I went through rehab and 2 nerve root blocks, which were painful. I’ve been palgued with back pain since. My feet began to hurt badly. My fingers or left leg began to go numb, just at any time. I had to quit my job as a dental assistant because of this. Since I’ve come to Dynamic Health and Pain Management, I got my first full night of sleep without meds in three years. I would toss and turn all night.  My feet aren’t tender anymore. I had seen the commercials after my accident and meant to call. I wish I ahd called sooner. I didn’t want to medicate the problem, I wanted a solution. Thank god I’ve found it.”

Sherry B.

“The experience taht I’ve had at Dynamic Health and Pain Managementhas been the best based on the fact taht I’ve been seeing an orthopedic since 2008, and getting nerve block shots and epidural shots for three years. I started coming to Dynamic Health and Pain Management at the end of March 2011. I came in with a limp and serious pain in my back and down my left leg.  DHPM had me on 4 or 5 differetn machines and inside of the first month I stopped limping, also the pain level was at a 10 coming in and now it stays around 3 or 4 and some days there’s no pain. The doctors and therapist at DHPM are the nicest people.  They are patient, they listen and always with a smile, which is very encouraging. let me not forget, I cried a couple of times, just feeling bad when I couldn’t complete the 12 minutes on the treadmill, beacuse of pain.  Now there are no more tears and I do all thats asked of me, because I’m really feeling better than ever.”

“My son Hunter is two years old and he’s had a sinus infection almost every month since he was five months old! He had so many infections that he had reached the point where Augmentin and Amoxicillin were no longer effective and he was allergic to Sulfa drugs. Not only that but 365 days of the year we were giving him Claritin or Zyrtec and 365 days of the year he STILL had a runny nose and chronic black eyes due to congestion. When I came to see Dr. Cox for the first time (for myself) and he saw Hunter for the first time, he started talking about how he could help Hunter and explaining what could be wrong….Well, my husband was strongly against this so I convinced him to come in and talk with Dr. Cox. He did and that’s all it took. Dr. Cox was the first person to explain to him why Hunter might be the way he was and what his treatments could do to help him. He agreed to let Dr. Cox work on Hunter. Basically, and this is in no offense to Dr. Cox, we were at the point of desperation – conventional medicine wasn’t working and herbs and supplements only helped a little. After four treatments from Dr. Cox, Hunter’s black eyes went away and his runny nose STOPPED! I haven’t given him ANY medication in about 6 weeks! He still has a little runny nose off and on but nothing like it was and Dr. Cox said to expect that because his condition has been chronic, it was going to take some time for him to be completely well. I have NEVER seen Hunter without black eyes or a runny nose and his energy level has sky-rocketed! As a mother, this means more to me than anything else…and I have Dr. Cox to thank for it and God for leading me to this wonderful man!”

“I had Taylor on July 31st 1999, he was two weeks early. A few months had passed when the doctor was starting to get concerned about his fine motor skills. At six months he was getting ear infections every week. Taylor was not sitting, his hand would not open up, and he was not crawling and not sleeping very well. He was always getting colds and allergies. We had tubes put in his ears to help prevent ear infections. We went to a neurologist to find out the course of his motor skills. We had an MRI, blood test, and urine test done all come back negative and/or normal. We even go to physical therapy to help him crawl, sit and walk. But the real relief was when I found Dr. Cox…Taylor was now a year old and was not able to open his hands very well, his balance was off and he always had pink, reddish eyes to name a few consistent symptoms. Dr. Cox looked at Taylor not 10 minutes and he asked (without me telling him) – “Does he have allergies?” I told him, “I do believe so but he’s never been tested.” Then he asked about his balance. I said, “not so good.” I already felt relief. A doctor that tells me the symptoms rather than me telling the doctor what is wrong with him. Dr. Cox showed me he had a bump in his neck area that was blocking the nervous system. Since we have been going [to Dynamic Health and Pain Management] Taylor’s balance, eyes and hands have improved. The first night his hand opened up for 10 seconds in mid-air, usually he clamps right up if he’s not holding anything. His eyes look normal. After two weeks his balance improved, he is more active, happier, crawls on all fours and his hand opens a lot more! Dr. Cox is a life-saver.”

“I’ve suffered migraines for some 20 years.  Been to different chiros, MD’s and an orthopedist who suggested surgery. Due to the curvature of my spine, I had also begun experiencing knee and lower back pain.  After the first treatment at Dynamic Health and Pain Management, the neck and back pain subsided.  i’ve had no migraines and now I can function as a healthy person.  I don’t spend the weekends in bed on pain pills and ice packs. For the first time in 20 years I realize that I can live a full, active, pain-free life!  Thank you!”

WHOLE-BODY ISSUES AND GENERAL CONDITIONS
…………………………………………………………………………………….

“I came to you [Dynamic Health and Pain Management] with some reluctance. The doctors I had dealt with over the past few years, including those in the fields of gynecology, endocrinology, rheumatology and neurology had diagnosed me with everything from endometriosis to fibromyalgia to just being a “general mess.” My attitude was suffering because I was in some form on constant pain every day of my life. My daily activities were becoming more limited and I was constantly on anti-inflammatory and antibiotic medications. Not one month went by that I didn’t have bronchitis, an upper respiratory infection or constant problems with migraines. I can now say after a year and a half, that I feel generally better than I have in a long time. The usage of prescription medication to combat problems has decreased by about 70% as well as the problems with side effects caused by those medicines. You [Dr. Cox] and your staff are always courteous, professional and extremely competent. I appreciate the time you take to share information and educate me about the various therapies you offer. These therapies have provided a less invasive manner to assist and correct the various health problems that I deal with.”

Sheila S.

“I was having a struggle with my seizure disorder but now I am able to cope a lot better. I was having…at least 15 seizures in one months time, but now…I have a lot less and I know before I am through with treatments I will be down to none a month.”

Eugenia

“The therapy was tremendous. It helped. Within weeks the headaches I was getting disappeared. I feel happier.”

Grace

“About my 3rd or 4th treatment I started feeling a lot better. My wife noticed the difference. She says I’m acting like I’m 25 years old again. I can walk upright. I can run. It is incredible! It feels good to feel good.”

Chuck

“It gave me energy. It gave me hope.”

Debbie

“They helped me with my knee. I avoided surgery.”

Paul

“They definitely have pinpointed the problem and have gotten to that problem. This is the first time in years my low back has been pain free.”

Mary Ann

“I am a new person. I can play golf. I can bowl.”

Paul

“The doctors were great. The therapists were great. The entire staff were great. You got a warm welcome and felt like you wanted to be there. I feel better just walking through the door.”

Chuck

“They (staff) make you feel like one of the family. It is absolutely one of the warmest places I’ve ever been.”

Mary Ann

“The spirit there is amazing. I’ve never seen a place where you walk in the door and everyone is glad to see you. You never see them (staff) down or talking about their own problems. It is always all about you.”

Debbie

“They care about you. They take the time to explain everything to you. It is just a wonderful experience.”

Paul

“I’m a much more likeable person. I was not likeable when I was in pain all the time. I hurt all the time. It made me a mean person. When my husband first bought me that motorcycle we were riding down the road, he was in the little side car, it was pouring down rain and I looked over at him and he was smiling from ear to ear. And it made me feel bad because I thought I have stole that smile off his face all these years I’ve been in that pain. It really upset me. I like to see him happy too. I know that my problems and pain affected him directly and the people that surround me. It is pretty cool to have him smiling and glad to have him back, really.”

Debbie

“My dogs have noticed a difference because I am able to work with them outside throwing the ball and running with them. They think it is great.”

Chuck

“I can now maintain a much more active life and sleep much better.”

Mary Ann

Meet Our President

No stranger to pain and discomfort, Dr. Cox became a chiropractor after having low-back problems due to extensive physical training. Dr. Cox was a national-champion fencer at Penn State University and a four time all-American when he injured himself while training for the U.S. Olympic team. Treatment from chiropractors, physical therapists and other medical providers helped save him from back surgery and allowed him to compete as the #1 U.S. sabre fencer in the 1996 Olympic Games. The same year he graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College.
